Our verdict

1Password Business is worth considering when you need shared vaults and identity-provider integrations. Compare the smaller Teams Starter plan before paying for Business across a small team.

Which plan should you evaluate?

Teams Starter and Business are different purchases. The vendor currently lists Teams Starter with ten members included and paid expansion up to twenty; Business is priced per user. Use the official comparison to confirm the controls you need before choosing the larger plan. The buying brief above uses Business pricing only.

For a ten-person business, write down which controls justify Business: identity integration, reporting, delegated administration or a documented requirement from your customer. If the requirement is simply shared business credentials, compare the smaller package in your trial.

What would make the rollout successful?

Start with a shared operational account, an individual work login and an administrator account. Give each a clear owner. Invite a small pilot group using the browsers and devices your staff actually use. Have them save a new password, retrieve a shared credential and explain how they would report a lost device.

Then test the failure cases: remove a pilot user, transfer ownership of a shared credential and practice the documented recovery procedure. Do this with test accounts. A password manager is useful only when access can be granted and removed predictably.

When is an alternative a better fit?

Bitwarden Teams is worth comparing for shared credentials and event logs; check Enterprise separately if you require self-hosting or SSO. Proton Pass is another option, but its Essentials and Professional capabilities must be compared separately.

Avoid making a migration decision solely on the advertised monthly rate. Inventory shared credentials, personal vault separation, recovery responsibilities and the staff time needed to switch. Those details determine whether a lower subscription bill saves money overall.

A practical purchase checklist

  • Record the plan, billing term, seat count and renewal quote.
  • Confirm the identity integration you intend to use in the selected plan.
  • Assign two responsible administrators and document recovery access.
  • Pilot onboarding and offboarding before importing every shared credential.
  • Agree on an adoption review after thirty days: active users, shared accounts with owners, and unresolved access problems.

Our recommendation is based on published product documentation, not an independent hands-on performance test. We do not assign an unsupported numerical rating.
